Bryan,
Just so you know, we're careful about not getting into overtly selling stuff on this site for a number of reasons.
If you were to want to put a link into your signature, that would be passive and therefore on the right side of the line.
No hard feelings, just lettin' you know. :)
I used to own a jeep that was my only vehicle at the time. Well, not counting the motorcycle.
Anyway, I generally kept the carpet OUT to keep it clean and only put it in when I was going to button the thing up for some reason, like a date where I was wearing decent clothing.
Oh...
I also used...
That depends on how you plan to use it. The ESP makes the boat behave like a mono-hull; so if you do a lot of turning, especially for watersports and such; it's good to have. It certainly does give your boat more of a "sports car" feel to in terms of handling.
If on the other hand you mainly...
There's something wrong with that statement.
I won't pretend to know the details but I CAN tell you that my marina is lousy with ESP's and they have no trouble with them.
Perhaps the issue is that he doesn't have an ESP compatible trailer that he uses for pickups. I don't know.
I would ask...
Look, you probably don't want to hear this, but at this point you're stuck with nothing but options you don't like.
Consult with an attorney of course...
You should know what your options ARE before you choose one; but I predict he's going to tell you that you basically have no claim and that...
Generally speaking you want a prop that lets you get all the way to redline, or at least pretty close; when the logs are clean and the water calm.
That way, as the season progresses and you begin to lose RPM (as a function of additional resistance limiting top speed), you'll still be able to...
I think that in this case I personally would choose the twin ellipticals.
Some thoughts...
I've had this discussion with the guys at the marina and the general consensus is that 3 25" logs or two elliptical logs are going to add up to roughly the same amount of weight, flotation and friction...
As others have pointed out, the speed tests are generally done under optimum circumstances.
You also want to pay attention to the number of logs a boat has.
CWAG will back me up on this... There are plenty of people with a 250 horse outboard on a 22-25 tri-toon that are running over 50mph...
I don't think you would like the results.
That prop is good for putting more power to the water without getting into unweildy diameters and pitches.
A Mercury 14x9p with the appropriate mercury thrust washer is your best bet with that engine. That's what I usually run on my T50.
