Thanks for the advice. I think I will try a 15 x 13p stainless and see how it goes. The cav plate looks good when at cruising speed. I think its a prop issue.
i have a 22' Bennington tritoon (2000 2275 lx) with a 2007 etec 150 ho. I currently have a 15.5x15p prop (aluminum). Under light load it is only pulling 5200 rpm. At wot it should be closer to 5800-5900. Questions I have are should I drop diameter and pitch to a 14x13p or just drop to a 15x13p...
I have access to a scissor style trailer so the toons will be fully exposed. I've read on other forums that if they are really bad sanding is the best option. The acids that are aluminum safe are way less effective. I hope someone here has been through this and can post their results.
I need to get the toons cleaned up below the water line. The previous owner left the boat in the water for the season for about 10 years. There is heavy build up (1/16" +) of mineral deposits. Im hesitant to use an acid like CLR or the works toilet bowel cleaner. Are those fine or is wet...
The toon is about 250 lbs it has lifting strakes on it and I'm adding lifting strakes to the inside of the outer tubes as well. I'm just assuming that it will make a difference with the same h.p. as they sell many tri toon boats that have 115 h.p. engines on them. I'm sure the end result with...
Bill's boat stuff is where I purchased it. http://www.billsboatstuff.com/ I went on many other forums to see about adding a 3rd log. Bill had all positive reviews. If you are asking if there is a coast guard horsepower rating on it, no. He sells 2 models one for 120 h.p. and one for 200 h.p.
Well got the 3rd log now. I got a custom transom tube made for $1800. It's a used tube with a transom fabricated. The new tube is rated for 200 h.p. but I'm still limited to the 125 h.p. for now. I will take some pics and post them when I install it in a few weeks.
Good idea with the thermal camera. If you know someone in the fire and water restoration industry they most likely have an Ir camera as well. (I have 3)
I wouldn't say it's not worth the $2600. Looking to get better maneuvering, the boat will plane instead of plow into waves which makes the ride better. I'm sure it will gain around 6 mph too. If I buy a newer tri toon bennington I'm looking at around another $10-15k for basically the same...
The current engine is 125 hp. That is the max on the hull plate. The boat is in great shape for its age. It only looks like it has 5 years of use. I've had it for 2 years now and would like to get a tri toon boat. It's hard to touch a decent one for under $20k.
The only bummer in doing...
Just curious if anyone on here has added a 3rd log using an aftermarket manufacturer. I can purchase locally one that will fit my 22' 2275 lx with a transom built in it for $2,700. It also has a 34 gallon fuel cell in it and lifting strakes. It's a 25" log like my others.
i am more than...
