    2018 22SSRX/P build options

Personally I love the in-floor storage but I'm on a 138,00-acre lake (15 miles wide, 35 miles long) so I can be gone all day and easily an hour away from home so I like to have everything with me. For me, I'll never have another boat without the in-floor. From reading what others have to stay...

    Winterization

I have a 22SSRX with Yamaha 150 and paid $803 for winterizing, shrink wrap and outdoor storage. Included fogging, fuel conditioner, change lower unit oil, oil change and filter. I drive the boat to the marina, put the cover on and walk away - they handle everything else.

    Spider Away

I use a mix of white vinegar, water and peppermint oil and spray it around the inside of the lift cover.  It gets rid of about 95% of the spiders and I don't worry about chemicals getting on the boat.  You can Google the recipe but it's about 50% vinegar, 50% water, 20 drops of peppermint oil...

    Wave damage to front panel

I do live in Oshkosh, about 4 miles south, near Stretch's (actually Streich's).  I'm out every weekend the weather allows.  This is my favorite week - EAA fly-in!  Been out all weekend watching all the planes, especially the seaplanes.  Saw a bunch coming in this weekend ... awesome!  Where are...

    Wave damage to front panel

I had the identical thing happen to me on my old 2-toon that sottemail did, and at pretty much the same spot on the same river - as soon as they clear the bridge they floor it.  Have also taken waves over the front from boats coming in - they come in full speed, get near the bridge, then go to a...

Which side is your transducer on?

Port side for me.  I had to move mine down quite a bit from where the dealer installed it (like 1.5 inches!)  Originally I'd lose depth at around 15, now it's good to just over 30.  Mine is now aligned just slightly lower than the bottom of the pontoon.  I kept moving down & testing until I...

    water/fuel separator

I think of it as cheap insurance ... the way I look at it there are 2 possible options: Me, 2 years from now: 1.  I spent $40K+ on a new boat, sure feel like I wasted a couple hundred on the water/fuel separator that hasn't helped me at all (or maybe it has and I don't know it.) 2.  Me...

    New to Bennington

I use a 2-drawer plastic stackable unit - fits perfectly.  Don't remember where I got it, sorry.

A great first weekend on the new boat

I bought one of those plastic stackable-drawer units that I put under the console.  2 drawers fits perfectly - it's about 12 X 16 inches, and holds can coozies, sunglasses, flashlights, maps, a few small tools, wallet, etc. - all the small stuff that I want to carry around but would end up...

Just cleaned my badly stained pontoons

On my boat (new this year, don't even have it yet) it was $413 MSRP for triple toons.  I had 3 possible outcomes: - get it, doesn't work, spent $400 for nothing, and I either live with the appearance or acid wash and go from there; or, - get it, it works, love it, toons look awesome and no...

    New Tri toon Lift

I've also looked at new lifts, and found that the canopy frame and cover add a lot of cost (easily $3 - $4k or more.)  You might want to look at the same brand as you have now and see if you can move the canopy frame to the new lift - that can save you some significant money. I have a...

Placing and removing lift / hoist

My neighbor is an engineer and I use his homemade system for floating/moving my lift.  I'll try describing it, but it's pretty hard to describe.  I'll be able to get pics in a few weeks - the pics will help - suddenly you'll see it and have that ah-ha moment! Get some large sheets of styrofoam...

    GPS question on new 22SSRX

That's why I got the in-floor storage - just my size for sleeping   As far as showing what's in front of me, I'm hoping the maps will do that - at least show me there are shallow areas coming up.  With a bigger motor (now have a 2001 2275LX w/ Honda 75HP) I'll be exploring more of the...

    GPS question on new 22SSRX

Sounds like the 53dv is what I'm looking for.  Thanks for all the help. Anyone know where/how they mount these - is it in-dash or some kind of above/pedestal mount? As I sit here looking at the lake with 13" of ice on it, and snowmobiles, 4-wheelers and even trucks driving on it, it seems like...

    GPS question on new 22SSRX

I've looked at both the 43dv and 53dv but can't tell from the Garmin site or anywhere else (even looked on YouTube) about the navigation features - they all emphasize the fish-finding features and that's really not what I need for everyday use - I need to avoid problems and find my way to my...
