First let me say, I will be ordering a SLXP. It's the boat for me.

There is quite a large base price difference between the 20 ($22199) and the 21($30606)
There are a couple of difference in the features (that I can see): the 21 has 25" pontoons and the 20 has 23". The 21 has three chaises and the 20 has 2
It's $588 to upgrade from 23" to 25" on the 20, 1 chaise and 1 additional foot in length can't make up the entire remainder of the difference.
In an effort to learn more, I checked the price for the 18 ($20749)
under $1500 difference from 18 to 20
over $8000 difference 20 to 21
All are showing equipped with the same Yamaha 50hp for the base boat

The 20 cannot be equipped with the extended aft deck and maxes out at 115hp

I'm really trying to make the right choice here - "buy my last boat first" but I do have to consider price, as well.

Does anyone know what I'm missing?

What are the differences in capacities, Hp, # of passengers etc. between the 2? Will they make a difference to you.

We have a 21 with the extended after deck. We love the extra room.

What type of boating do you plan to Do?

Brian

All I can add is that I LOVE my 21' SLXP. Worth every penny.

Although I've not heard anything the last year or two, there have historically been boat builder pricing errors.

Is this info from your dealer or build a boat?  I assume build a boat or you'd have asked your dealer instead of us. Ask your dealer to confirm.

My  2012 24SSL was $20k with no motor, no trailer.  That's what I actually paid, not what build a boat said.

Capacity: the 20' holds 11, the 21' holds 12

I was comparing base boats so same 50hp engine on both (not what I'd order it with)

I first noticed the price difference when I was doing build a boat online and then priced with my dealer. The pricing was consistent. I asked the question of the dealer and all they could tell me was that the price difference was Bennington, not them.

My neighbor just got a 21 with a 115 and a trailer for less than 30K. I'd check with another dealer....

I agree with goldenrod24, I love mine as well. I'm a little embarrassed to say what I spent...but it's still worth every penny.

Beg, Borrow, or Steal ...but get it done.

Never ever be embarrassed by what you spend on a boat :) . Buy what you can afford and enjoy every cruising hour on the water. Great build on your boat.

Very nice build!

Bought 20 SLXP F90 Yamaha  25 " tubes 10 pax LAST MONTH, go for the 21.   More options with the motor and the extra port bow lounge is nicer for the crew.   In the process of a trade or a Xl 115 performance upgrade at the moment.  The twin 25" with a F90 tops out at 5700 rpm and 24 mph.  That with 2 adults and 2 teenagers

if I got the 20' I'd get the tritoon with the 115hp and add the bow door seat for extra space. Also looking at the 20 ssrxp

With that build, would you still pay 8k more for the 21?

I love the extra bow and stern deck space on my boat.  The bow gate I am considering for a cost of $ 600.  The biggest issue l have is WOT and getting 22-24 mph.   The dealer told me to expect 28-30, after spending a considerable amount of time here and other searches the boat is giving me exactly what should be expected at WOT.   The rub is the 4-5 mph missing on a F90 that I was told to expect from the dealer.   Dealers don't know all.  If you want options the 21 in all models give them to you.

Extended Aft Deck     Bow Door Seat     Remove co-captain chair and extend lounge seating

Has the new toon been delivered yet, this sounds nice almost the same as we have been looking at, so I was wondering how it is on the water.

nope not even ordered yet as we are still going around on the options, layout, etc. It will be built this winter and we'll have in the water in the Spring. Pix will come immediately thereafter!

Oh, thought it was ordered, was your dealer and Bennington open to custom changes, I haven't had much luck with changes.

I actually spoke to then by phone. They were willing to change the capacity plate but only up to 140hp which limits us on the engine. We had planned on a Mercury but they jump from 115 to 150. Suzuki makes a 140, Evinrude a 135 but the Mercury ProXS CT 115 that we originally priced on our build puts out around 135 so not really any point in doing one of the other engines.

If the reader of this post is not familiar with the furniture layout of the SSRXP, the following may be gibberish!

We are getting a 20SSRXP because we prefer the aft door in the center and like the additional seating behind the captain chair. We had already arranged to remove the co-captain chair and extend the aft port lounge. Bennington would do this change for no additional charge.

Then I thought it would be better to leave that lounge as is and get a third lounge on the port fore. This would require changing the position of the port door, moving it backward. This turned out not to be feasible as the area that it would be moved to is where the bimini attaches. Bennington's solution was to remove the port door altogether and place two port loungers back to back so we would have seating all along the port side with half facing fore and half facing aft. They would make this change for a dealer cost of $1k, which our dealer said they would sell to us AT COST! Since this boat has the extended bow deck and we are adding the extended stern deck, we would still have easy access for entry/exit.

We are considering what to do but are leaning toward our original plan as we like having the port door and are unsure how the boat will look and perform with that much seating on one side

Final decision in a few hours...
