What’s the best prop for a 2018 22GCW with SPS and a Yamaha 150 HP. Watersports being top priority but I also want to achieve 40+ MPH, understanding that load, clean toons, and water conditions play into account on that. I’m seems a Reliance 14.5 X 15 prop (68F459701000) might be the best compromise. I haven’t taken delivery yet and I want to have the right prop installed before I do so.

15x15 Enertia.

Mines a 14.5” x 15p. It’s what came on it.

My guess would be 38-40 mph with a G series SPS and a 150 hp with the right set up.

Probably slightly under 40.

I confirmed with my dealer. Much to my surprise, they installed a 14.5 X 15 Reliance prop. He said would be 41 mph under optimal conditions and with it properly trimmed up. I am very pleased. Now we just need some warmer weather to test it out. Hopefully <7 weeks away.

Its really difficult to sit and stare at a new Bennington sitting there just itching to get wet! I took delivery a couple weeks ago and am currently polishing out to toons to a mirror finish and then applying Sharkhide. I will post pictures when its finished. My set up is a 2019 22SSRXP SPS with a Yamaha 200. I will use it for water sports and cruising and an occasional 50-60 mile trip up the Illinois river to a popular restaurant. Anyone have this set up, that can give me an idea of what to expect for performance....top speed, handling, hole shot, etc... I have seen several post of similar set ups, but not really anything with this length, HP and performance package all on one boat. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Reliance 15" pitch. Can't remember what the diameter is but mine performs well.

Congratulations on the new boat - looks good. We have a 24’ SSBXP SPS with a 200hp Mercury Verado. A little different, but based on our boats, this is my educated guess on your performance:

Your boat is a little shorter, and thus slightly lighter. Our 200 is a supercharged v6, correct me if I’m wrong, the Yammy is a non-supercharged v4. Thus, I think the length/weight starts to balance out due to those factors.

Hole shot should be strong, particularly with the right prop and engine hole mount. A 22’ S series with a 200 hp is going to get up and go. Our hole shot is excellent with our 200. My 200 is probably stronger on hole shot (v6/supercharged), but top end is gong to be similar. Thus, top end speed at WOT is probably 43-44 mph semi light load, 1/2 tank gas with the correct prop and engine hole mount. Probably 38-40 mph with a full load, full tank of gas.

I predict you will be very pleased with the performance of a 200hp on a 22 SPS hull.

Secarter6, what prop is on your boat? I have a very similar setup, but mine is a 2016 22SSXAPG with SPS and F200. This has the fishing station in the back and the extended aft deck. I've only had the boat on the water once with the dealer when I picked the boat up last Friday. We were cruising for a short time at 43 mph on the GPS at wide open throttle, but I was not driving so don't know if trim could have been adjusted to go a bit faster. Mine has the Reliance 15 pitch, 14 1/2 diameter prop.

Mike, I have the exact same prop. Unfortunately, my boat hasn't even been wet and I'm anxious to get it in the water. Thanks for the info....enjoy your new boat!

You are almost at your terminal velocity at 43. I have the same setup but a 24 and have been able to squeeze 44.4 out of mine.

The owner of the dealership where I bought the boat told me he puts that prop on both F150s and F200's for that size tritoon.

No, that occurs around 35. But the male auto response is to just power past that and suffer the consequences afterwards.

For the record, 40 to 45 @ WOT is fine for me, I usually run around 27 to 32 and sometimes up to 35 - 37, when I'm on the water, that's my time to relax, not see how fast I can burn fuel.....besides, that's what jet-skis are for!

I finally got the toons all polished and sharkhide applied!20190207_144157.jpg 20190208_151600.jpg 20190208_151658.jpg 20190213_185447.jpg 20190207_144214.jpg
