In the boat parade this weekend and drifted into a wood piling going under a bridge. Lots of boats jammed up and Bimini was full down to get under bridge so wife couldn’t fend off the outboard in time. I was in idle and didn’t hear anything. But lost power. Threw anchor and raised the yam175 and no signs of damage to prop or engine. I lowered the engine and it restarted fine and we returned under WOT with no problems.
my question is: does something shut the engine off automatically ? I had a similar scenario on a sand bar once that we drifted into slowly and it shut down the engine.
