We had an unfortunate drowning on our lake this past weekend. the weather was beautiful but the water temp was still chilly. A 43 year old man decided to jump off a Pontoon boat and swim to a Waverunner, with out his life jacket. Needless to say he could have enjoyed his whole week end if he was wearing his jacket. No matter how old or how good you think you can swim. "Life Jackets Save Lives" Don't leave your boat with out one.

Sadly, people just don’t realize how dangerous the water, especially cooler water, can be. Ours is 73, and it still feels mighty cold to me.

Had a drowning Sunday night within a 1/4 mile of our marina. No life jacket....rough water.....and likely booze as they were heading from apple island (also known as party cove). One of two men (20 somethings) made it to shore, the other hasn't been found yet. Seeing the first responders when we were leaving the marina was a somber lesson to my girls that boating can be extremely dangerous. Have them the dad talk about life jackets, seat belts, and booze. Hopefully if they hear it enough it'll sink in.
