I have to say winter is usually not a picnic here in The Pittsburgh Tri-State Area
Here on The lake we can have wind chills of 40 Below and temps -15F
This year however has been amazingly mild
The Lake has not been cold enough to go out on the ice
Throughout this winter the Lake has not even had a coating of ice
Our total snow fall this winter season is only 3 inches
They are calling for snow this weekend time will tell how much if any we get
No matter what it will not look like this
The ice fishermen were actually using snowmobiles to get out and pull their equipment even though there was about a foot of open water at our shore! It was obviously thicker farther out but I wouldn’t have trusted it.
Winter gives us enough snow and ice to snowmobile most of the time. It’s what gets me through the off season until summer comes back around in northern Michigan. Current lake conditions for us:
Too much rain here (central Alabama). Thankfully we are on a controlled lake that is kept full pool year round, ie not flooded like the one above us. Hopefully the water will start dropping in the next 12 hours.
I am hoping this summer is not like the last two
The northern latitudes have too short of a Boating Season already
Another wet summer will shorten it again
We could all use a Great Boating Season
Has Anyone Else Noticed
"The Old Farmer's Almanac"
Couldn't of Been Less Accurate
So Much For The Snowy Cold Winter
I Would Be Quite Happy If Every Winter Was
Like This Mild Winter
No Complaints From Me
Mild Mild Mild
Now Lets Turn The Rain Off
And Start The Boating Season
