Rough Week

Well gang things have calmed down enough that I can talk about my week now.

Tuesday the 14th at around 2 P.M. CDT. My house was hit by a tornado. No one home except me and my dog. I will admit that it is the most scared I have ever been. It uprooted a huge Maple tree and dumped it across the house and also got my Honda parked in the driveway.

I am now spending most of my time dealing with insurance adjusters and contractors. Oh and also tree service, to get it removed.

Bad day for sure, you were lucky from the looks of it, here in the northern plains we see straight line winds and or micro bursts with 90-120+ mph winds that cause more damage than tornadoes most times due to them covering a bigger area versus a tornado.

That just plain sucks! Glad you and your family are ok.

Yipes! Glad to hear everyone is O-K! All in all, i think it could have been a lot worse, but it sucks either way. Good luck with the repairs and with the insurance companies!

Ouch, that hurts!  I will say this, everyone I know that has a major insurance claim in the long run ended up in a better position than before the claim

Wow, The wife and I watched this unfold on our local news channel. The system looked like it stopped on top of the lake. I did hear Holly Creek got a lot of hail but no follow up after the storm went through. We are heading up after church Sunday and spend all day on Monday. I can bring a saw if you need some help with clean up.

Glad you are ok. I use to be a property claims adjuster so I have seen this type of damage many many times. If you have any questions please message me. What is interesting is when a tornado passes through a dense residential area. It is amazing what you find jammed into homes, hanging on stubs of bare trees etc.afterwards. I'm sure your property adjuster/contractor will be using a program called xactimate for the estimate. I was a certified trainer on that software and it is good....providing you account for the full scope of damage.

And to Link's point, When the damage is severe enough there are so many repairs it is like a new home. I would not want to go through a fire though. Those are a mess, have a long tail and destroy memories. I've seen grown men cry as their pet was lost in the fire. Not the way I would want to get a new kitchen etc.

Glad to hear you are OK and survived the scare...  had a tornado touch down about 12  houses away from me here in Michigan last September.  That's as close as I ever want to be!!!   Also, nice to see the flag survived...  O - H !!!!

Thank you my friend, however I have a group of (boating) neighbors that were here right after the storm and back every day since, doing anything I needed them to do. I am truly blessed.

Thank you. I am blessed to have a neighbor who is a retired claims adjuster and she has been with me every step of the way. Knowing the process and what questions to ask has been a great help.

Wow David, so sorry to hear that. I've had a major claim in the past myself and what everyone's saying should be your experience too. I've nothing but good things to say about my insurance adjuster and company and how they handled it. You'll be whole again. It just takes a lot of patience and communication.

No one was hurt, that's a good day.

Glad that everyone is okay! You can always rebuild your home. Best of luck to all of you.....

So sorry to hear about your week. Glad everyone is ok and most things can be replaced. It's such a hassle and mess to go thru. In the long run, hopefully everything will be better than it was before the twister. Sounds like you are in some good company with the claims people and they are helping you through it. Those people are life savers or breakers. When our cottage flooded with 250k gallons of water, I was so lucky my uncle was our insurance agent was living 2 miles from our place where he could check on it and the progress every day made by restoration company.

Good luck and keep us posted. You and yours are all in our thoughts during this difficult time

Wow! Happy you and the pooch are ok! Must have been some pretty nervous times. Hope all goes well from here on out!

Glad you are all okay. That's some scary pics!!!

We live nearby (Cumberland Plateau area) and heard that there were at least two confirmed tornadoes in your area.  Good to hear that nobody was hurt.

Sorry to hear that, glad all is ok

Glad to hear you are okay.  Material things can be replaced.
