Sea Legs

can Sea legs be used where the bottom(ground) is soft like mud?

It depends on how much mud you have until you reach hard bottom. Also, how even the mud is spread out in relation to depth. A neighbor put pontoon out further from shore than usual and it dropped off with muck - the front legs engaged and almost swamped the back of the boat (it looked like they jacked up the front only). It looked like the rear legs never hit something solid or it was too deep, or combination. Once we moved the pontoon up 5 feet toward shore, it worked perfect.

I also have to be careful regarding side to side slope / elevation. One area by my dock slopes almost a foot, but when I move it a few feet, it is level.

Overall I like the product, but it really depends on individual circumstances (do you hate putting a lift in and out, how do you feel about putting the cover on, content of shore bottom, weight impact on pontoon and performance impact, battery impact). Also, don't forget about the impact of trailing.

I do feel a little more vulnerable to mechanical issues. Most of the issues with a lift will be related to cable which I could fix on the spot versus calling a specialist to fix something with a hydraulic (hose, electrical, motor).

Does anyone have any experience with Sea Legs? I currently tie up my pontoon on my pier as my wife likes the water bounce when sitting on it. I’m thinking about sea legs as a lift alternative. Any pros or cons? Thoughts on the different brands? Any idea on cost?
Sea-Legs are a great option to save some money on a lift. They work great depending on what type of boat you have. What type of boat do you have?

I think this is totally it... and we realized (too late) that our battery was 4 years old. the video mentioned that a low battery can eld the solenoid shut. Out boat sat for 2 weeks and it was a 4+ year old battery. Will add a second battery and try the solenoid. Thanks so much for the very quick help here... I could have used you Saturday morning on the lake.

DO you know if there is a way to manually lower the sea legs?
What size battery are you using? 800+ cc’s works the best
