This year we have had 2seats replaced due to seams that have pulled apart. Now a third seat has the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just our bad luck to get defective stitching on the seats?

What do use to clean your seats ?

Yikes. Sorry you are dealing with this problem. On the comical side, I was curious what you are doing on your seats....

On the serious side, what year is it. Curious how old the seats are. I also have to wonder what’s being used to clean the seats and interior. There are a variety of products/chemicals that I have heard will break down the thread, although I have no personal experience with this issue. Perhaps cleaning agents mixed with age mixed weather and storage conditions is dissolving the threads more quickly than normal...?

Curious if others with the same year and seats have had any similar issues?

If stitching is coming apart, just take cushions to an upholstery shop and have them pull covers and restitch them. Sounds like wrong cleaning products destroying thread.

I have a corner seat on my 2106 gsr deteriorating. Never been cleaned with anything but dawn. Do use 303 products in between full washes. Put away dry. Covered every night with playpen cover. So you are not alone.

We have been using spray9 marine. It is a 2015 22SX. Barn kept for 2 years then a dock with a lift for about a year and now in a slip on a lake. Love the boat but prefer the gulf to lakes.

Which seats? I know if someone stands on seats (like trying to remove/install Bimini cover) it can cause torn seams.

I fear I have this starting on mine. I'll try and get some photos soon. Random places too where the seats aren't experiencing weight. Mine aren't a thread issue but the holes where the thread passes through the vinyl are stretching out.

If your boat is a 2015, would this be covered by the warranty?

When I get a chance I’ll swing by the local dealer and see what he says. I wonder if the new simtex material is less susceptible to this.

I’m going to have to take a closer look at mine. Sorry your having this issue. Please keep us posted as to what the dealer says.

Thank goodness for the warranty! Richard, I'd have to say that it wasn't anything you've done but more like bad luck. I'll have to remember to take a closer look at mine next summer but I don't think I'm having a problem like a number of you.

I think most folks will agree that such issues are not exclusive to Bennington. I recently had to have a vinyl insert replaced on the driver's side seat of my 2015 Chevy. I'm not a real big guy but the vinyl cracked none the less.

Contact your dealer and good luck!

This weekend I did a once over on my seats and it does not look good. Every seat has an issue. I just sent the following link to the dealer so they can get the warranty process started. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly. I always use the cover to avoid issues like this! Frustrating. As you can see it is all over and not in places where people would sit etc.

I wonder if the Simtex holds the stitches better than the softer vinyl that has been around for several model years in Benningtons.

Yikes! Guess that'll be one of the first things I'll do when we splash her in June.

So.....Bennington responded to the dealer that they didn't see anything wrong with my furniture, and I should check in next year...

Not what I was expecting to hear! Is it just me or based on my photos in that link the vinyl is stretching out/failing where penetrated by the sewing needle? Please PM me if you have a similar era boat with soft vinyl as I'd like to get some photos from others showing the difference between theirs and mine.

I was really hoping this wouldn't have been a battle.

I think we know where this is going.
