Trolling Motor on 20SLX?

Has anyone put a trolling motor on a 20SLX?

Not a fish model but it has a small space in front of the bow gate. Is it possible to mount one on there without messing with the gate?

Would it make more sense to put it on the back? Any bass fisherman will tell you the front is better but pontoons are weird.

Yes, just get a Minn Kota with the quik release bracket, then you can pop it off when not in use. The half gate on fishing model just allows you to fold it down, so you dont have to pop it on and off. Some of the toons at my lake just let them on all the time. VERY trusting they are !!!

I have a 24 SLi - not the fishing model and the Minn Kota motor fits fine. I did put the 1/2 gate in - I think the dealer charged $129 for the gate. The quick release bracket works great.

Mounted on the front you just point it where you want to go, if you mount it on the back you'll just keep trying to turn the boat. I'd only do that as a last resort .... these are like big sails anyhow and I don't think you'd be happy with it set up that way.
