Hi fellow boaters,
I was pulling my R25 out of the water the other day and as I was cranking the winch I heard a "snap". Come to find out the base of the
winch stand broke. I have a 2012 VPT-26-40EC trailer, out of warranty. Has anyone experienced this before? I find this issue to be very very rare and should probably never have happen. Time to track down a new part..

Dang! I've never heard of that happening.

I’ve not heard of that, either. But this post is a great reminder for boaters to use a four point tie down system while transporting their boat. You never know when a key element will fail. Good this happened at the ramp and not traveling 65mph down the highway. Should be an easy fix. Get a welder to cut 1/2” off the bottom of the post and weld another flat piece of metal to replace that. Make sure they use substantial gauge metal.

Damn! Just got a Venture trailer with our new boat. It's beefy, heavy duty and galvanized. But I really like it so far!

Well, Pulled the winch stand assembly apart today. The winch base plate and the metal straps that hold it to the tongue were bent.
It appears from the bolts being cranked really tight.
Along with the torque from winching the boat onto the trailer, the base plate decided to break. Visited my local welder and he is going
to replace the old base plate with a thicker plate, and add 2 gussets. Should get me back in business..

Glad to hear!
