Could have been a lot worse for sure. Probably texting too!!

We spent the weekend at Dale Hollow Lake on a houseboat. Friday night around 10:00 pm there were some guys wake boarding which is against the law at night. It was very dark and a lot of debris has strarted floating on the lake up in the coves. Several fishereman were in the coves trying to night fish. They were very fortunate no one got hurt.

People just don't learn......

Luckily a news story and not an obituary. People just don't get it. Driving under influence during daylight a bad enough, but when it's dark. Throw the book at him.

We were out on our lake (Big Bear Lake CA) a few weeks ago 2:30 pm on a Monday afternoon when a small older v-hull started following in our "wake" very close behind. Then they came along side zig zagging back and forth coming within 15 feet off my port side. A woman was driving and a guy was sitting on the bow (not a walk-through) with one arm holding on to the windshield flopping from side to side as the driver zigged back and forth. The driver acted like she didn't even see us kind of a dazed look in her eyes. I slowed down and cruised to the ot her side of the lake we were thinking that they are drunk or high and wanted no part of their play. Well this story doesn't end well less than 15 minutes later we saw one lake patrol boat zoom past us on the way to a near by boat ramp the another came by towing the boat we saw driving so crazily. A few minutes later we cruised by the ramp/dock and there were emergency vehicles sheriff's vehicles lake patrol and the boat tiedyo the dock. Later that nihgt mybwife was looking at the sheriff's facebook page and saw the report. The lady claimed her brother fell into the water and she hit with the boat when she tried to pick him up. She originally told the lake patrol that they didn't need anassistance. Well the blood in the water said otherwise. The brother was unconscious with multiple deep laserations in his legs and compound fractures. They had to air evacuee him out and booked her with operating a boat under the influence after she refused to take a breathalyzer test. Since then we have given statements to thesheriff

Sorry my Kindle locked up since then we havegiven statements to the sheriff. And here is the unbelievable part the woman is now suing the Marina they rented the from for negligence!!!!

She should have been the one run over.  Sorry, but I have no patience for crap like that.  Fess up.  Own up.

But she's only half the problem.  The other half is the attorneys that are willing to file cases like this.  If lawyers were required to win 80% of their cases to keep their license (and no settling allowed, you either win or lose the case), then attorneys would only take on cases they thought they could actually win, not just the ones they thought they could settle.  Then people like her would not be able to find an attorney for their crooked scam ass cases.  That would fix the problem.  Attorneys only take cases like her's because they can't lose.  Odds are very high that it will be settled out of court, and the attorney always wins.  That's what needs to change.

Another example of stupid + alcohol = accident.

Agreed Kaydano, too often now it is less costly to settle out of court then it is to defend a case.  How sad it has come to this.
