We have a slip and definitely use it a lot more then if we were towing , especially during the week after work. Easier to get motivated after work when you can just drive down and hop in. Because I suck at loading it on the trailer I don't have to stress about it or wait in line either.
speaking of driving in rough water , now in my third year boating I was out in high winds, 3 to 4 foot waves for first time Saturday . My 20slmx / 25"toons / 90 HP was great into the waves , stayed high and dry. Driving with the waves was more challenging taking water over the bow,no damage...
By the way you'll love the boat - with much the same circumstances as you we are going on our third year with ours and it suits are wants and needs perfectly
I have a 20slmxp - in floor storage great for cover/poles and fenders out of the way - also have 25" toons / 90HP - my lifting strakes definitely enhance ride - privacy enclosure with portable toilet great for longer trips - battery shut off is nice for piece of mind
I have a 20 with a 90 command thrust on it - very happy - will do 24 to 30 mph depending on # passengers / conditions - usually cruise at 3500 rpm / 14 miles per hour - plenty power to pull tubers or get to shore in a hurry if needed - this is the max HP allowed for this boat - would not be...
