Update,
Tested my setup with the below results.

Thanks. Very good article. What I gather thus far is I need to measure distance from transom to prop. For every 8-10” I can raise my motor 1”.
What I don’t know is everyone on this site seems to have a mercury engine and nobody with a Yamaha engine is responding with data. What say you Q25...
If possible, could any of you getting good performance from your Q25 look at something?
Currently, the ventilation plate of my Yamahas 300 is level with the bottom of the center toon. I looked at the dealership at a couple of mercury 400 motors mounted on Q’s. I noticed that those ventilation...
Hello,
I have a Q25 fast back with arch and Yamaha 300. A 16” pitch prop. Motor is mounted as low as it can go. The best I can do with a half tank of gas and two people is 43 MPH.
I’m questioning if the motor is mounted too low. With the motor trimmed for best speed/RPM the boat throws water...
So maybe I’m missing something. If that’s the only difference, why doesn’t Bennington just make the cover so it can be used to tow. We spend enough money on these beautiful boats. Seems counter intuitive to not spend the extra $100 in material to make the cover correctly. Instead we have to...
Two questions on how to tow a Benny long distances.
1) tow with cover on or off? Are there special considerations for each option?
I have always towed my bow rider with cover on but dealer told me to always tow my new Benny with the cover off. I don’t want road grime or bug splatters in the...
For the time being I am satisfied with the performance of the 15-1/2” x 16 Yamaha prop. Top speed of 45MPH. Hole shot was excellent too.
I would like to find a place that would let me try the 17” pitch to see how the motor behaves as well as the enertia line from mercury.
I am perplexed why...
Prop is a yamaha saltwater series II. I don't think Merc props are designed for yamaha and it's probably a bad idea for motor warranty.
The prop I tested today was 15-1/2 x 16 and produced 45 MPH trimmed. Hole shot was impressive too. Motor is mounted as low as it can go (top hole). I liked...
Finally able to test two props.
Here is the setup.

Seating configuration is fastback. Left and right sides are identical. Only differences are Captains chairs mid left and right positions. Elevated helm on right side. Amp and subwoofer inside helm door on right side. Two batteries one under aft left corner seat and other on aft right corner seat...
I am bewildered, as both myself and my wife very clearly heard water in the aft end of the right pontoon when we pulled it out of the water. Checked the left side and heard a sloshing but it was faint and likely just the gas tank. The right side was very noticeable and had a metalic sound to it...
