I'd agree it sounds like a fuel issue, but I'm fairly new to outboard ownership. In other 4 stroke engines, I've had gasoline go bad in just a few months where the engine refused to run.
Often, the only repair needed was draining the old gas from tank and carburetor, then filling everything...
Does anyone use a weight distribution hitch system for towing their boat? I see these hitches used a lot with campers, but have rarely seen them on boat trailers.
I'm considering adding one to our boat trailer, since the tow weight for the trailer & boat will be close to the towing capacity...
Thanks and tried that already with no success. The hose can't be lifted enough because it hits the fiberglass panel (poor helm design). I also thought about unbolting the helm power steering pump entirely, then bleeding it while holding it lower to the deck, and finally re-attaching when it's...
I've noticed almost the same sounds on ours too - 2020 SSRX with the SeaStar hydraulic steering. I think I've traced the problem to air bubbles that collect in the power steering fluid fill line, within the helm console. The bubbles cannot be bled from the system properly.
Specifically, the...
Does water remain that could freeze in a Yamaha F150 lower unit when fully tilted up all the way? We're on an inland lake and our Bennington pontoon is left in the water most of the season, moored to a dock and the motor tilted up fully. I do not have a lift (but am dreaming of one :)).
I'd...
You could check the neutral switch and shift cut switch too. The motor won't start unless the neutral switch "detects" that the throttle and shift linkage are in the neutral position. Remove the cowling and watch to see if the neutral switch is "pressed" when the binnacle is in the neutral...
Did you ever resolve the issue? I've noticed the same issue on mine - Sea Star hydraulic on a with Yamaha F150. It's a clicking/grinding noise when turning hard at higher speeds. I suspect the cause might be an air bubble caught in the remote fill tube and/or Sea Star Helm pump. Then, in a...
