Yes BulldogsCadillac it has both and I agree with everything you just said. I think the foils and strakes on the outside tunes are probably not conducive to turning and I think for a center toon to have any positive effect on turning sharper that it would have to protrude deeper into the water...
I know what you're saying Remediation. I love this one for all the things it does well but...I'd love it more if it would turn better on plane lol.
Thanks for the response.
I measured between the tubes today. 38" between the foil outer edges which appear to be in vertical alignment with the widest part of the toon. That would be a 7" space between tubes/foils if I added a 24" round center toon. My minds eye tells me that's too close together as has been suggested...
TomS I wondered about that and it's a very good point you make. That possibility is what led me down the path of wondering what if anything deep partial V keels might do if they were added to the two existing ellipticals.
But back to the tritoon conversion thoughts. Because of the possibility...
LINK and KAYDANO - from a purely physical dimension standpoint it will fit.. From a performance standpoint? I have no idea which is why I initially posed the question.
MICHIMAN - I love everything about the boat except for the characteristic inherent in the twin ellipticals with strakes/foils...
I've searched the forums and I've seen where some have stated "you can't add a center tube to a boat with ellipticals."
I'm sure they probably mean you "shouldn't do it because" _______, fill in the blank.....
Does anyone know any of the reasons why it shouldn't be done?
Yessir. Many here have stated the same or similar so I'm confident it can be done. I just have to figure out why mine's refusing to cooperate. There's a glitch somewhere in it no doubt. I'm just hoping to track it down and get it fixed sooner rather than later so my passengers and I can be...
Searching the forums I see where some have had the problem and some haven't regarding the standard bimini top's front support legs disconnecting from the rail mounts at speeds greater than 15 mph. I've had it happen with mine as well, virtually every time I exceed 20 mph no matter the lake...
I have a 14-1/4" dia. x 17 pitch s.s. 3 blade Solas New Saturn prop on a 22SLX, Yamaha 150VmaxSHO with twin ellipticals, strakes and wave shield. 2 people, 25 gallons of fuel and GPS 43 mph @ 5700. Not the same boat as yours but may be somewhat helpful information for you on the 17 pitch Solas...
