    antifoul or lift

I personally would lift the boat. Anti fouling helps but even the big boat owners that leave in the water year round have to hire divers for hull cleaning monthly and pull the boat out every couple of years for cleaning and repainting.

    Advice with Simtex and sunscreen

I’ve had the zinc/mineral based sunscreen rub off on my darker accent Simtex. I used dawn and a scrub brush and got most of it out. Eventually it all faded away.

Another night time boat crash on my lake

I definitely am a fan of boater education. While I have been a passenger for many years, when I finally bought my own boat I was faced with the stark realization that not only am I responsible for my own life but those of my passengers. I took the boater education course and watched a ton of...

    Complete Noob with Bennington Fever

My experience with boats in saltwater is that barnacles start forming in about a week. Anti fouling paint on the tunes can help retard the growth but doesn’t stop it completely. You would still need to have them cleaned often by something more than a wipe down at the sandbar. You would...

    Photos!

Saw this on Facebook, looks like someone took the advice of putting sandbags in the bow seriously. LOL

    Cleaning of seats

Is it possible that it could be from some zinc based sunscreen lotions? I had some of those in similar areas on my seats from peoples legs brushing up against them after applying. It took a good scrubbing with a soft boat brush and some dawn and water. And in some case a more aggressive...

    Prop test data

Hearing all these dealer horror stories, I feel lucky to have two good dealers “nearby” the one I bought from propped it right and mounted the motor in the right hole. And the one that I take her to for service has been Johnny on the spot. No significant wait times, Easy warranty claims and a...

    My turn: Leaking Pontoon

Sorry to hear hope I don’t have to look forward to this. I know my dealer will do a haulout (at a cost of course) just have to get the boat to a ramp. I’m sure they’ll have the dealer use a local welder rather than ship and replace toons. Good luck. Let ya know how it all works out.

    Clips for boat bumpers

The Taylor made clips should slip down between the rail and seat back. At least they do on my SXP

Experiences at sea - Vineyard Sound (East Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard)

I’ve never taken it to the open ocean, attempted to one time but the swells at the inlet got me uncomfortable it was probably about 4-5ft in the inlet. So I turned around. I’ve also been caught in a massive Florida downpour (the kind you can’t see through) on my way back home. Felt...

Experiences at sea - Vineyard Sound (East Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard)

Thanks for the video! You are absolutely right few people have posted videos in rough water. I run in the intracoastal in Florida and get a lot of chop and big wake. Been comfortable with mine so far. I have a 22SSXP with SPS and. Yamaha F150.

    Trump Parade Tears!!!

Yes unfortunately those boat parades create more wake damage Than anything I’ve ever seen. They aren’t on a plane and everyone is plowing water to keep the nose up as high as possible to keep from getting water over the bow. Saw a hurricane deckboat on the shore taking on water because of all...

Boat wont start.. battery hooked backwards

There is a primer bulb under the deck typically there is an access hatch just forward of the transom well. At least that’s how mine was rigged. I’ve never had to use it, but I’ve also never let my boat sit unused for 6 months. If the boat is not even turning over, check to make sure you have...

Boat wont start.. battery hooked backwards

Been there done that. On a Yamaha outboard there are a couple of fuses under the cowling in a fuse box. Pop the cover off the motor locate the fuse box and pop that cover off. On the inside of the cover there should be a fuse puller and some spares (don’t forget to replace the spares as soon as...
