fuel tank-fuel pick up problem

I seem to run out of fuel after about 11-12 gallons of consumption. The gauge reads about 1/2 tank which makes sense if I in fact have a 21.4 gallon tank which is what I think the spec is. 1) Is it possible I only have a 12 gallon tank? 2) It acts like there could be a failed fuel pick up I am...
