Picked up my new 2275 GCW today and am extremely pleased except for an embarrassing engine rattle when the boat is moving at idle speed. Bump the RPM's up slightly and the rattle goes away. The guy that delivered my boat said all stainless steel props on Yamaha F150's have the idle rattle. I have a Yamaha F150LB. My SS prop is a 4 bladed type with a yellow black sticker on it that says TURBO.

Is there a fix for this problem?

Thanks.

I have the same problem with my 2013 150 SS prop. I had it balanced and helped a lot.

Never heard of a 5 blade prop on a pontoon. Maybe a 4 blade once in awhile.

I just had my prop replaced under warranty for this issue. There is a new SS Yamaha prop with a better hub that reportedly eliminates the ratchet sound at in-gear-idle. It seems to work as much as I have tried it. It is in the back of my car and my car doesn't make any sound at all at idle with the prop back there.

I will report back once I have my spring prop off and this new one put on.

You're right it's a 4 blade. Sorry for the typo,

5 blades are made .

Jeff, are you referring to the sds hub? If so they are standard on the f200. If you didn't have it from the start your dealer pulled it. Here is mine with the new prop lock but you can see the hub. I love how much smoother the shift in is and no prop chatter.

I'll have to look to see what I had and what I got. When I picked up my boat last year, there was a supply problem with props. Dealers couldn't get them. What they gave me worked ok, but I was propped too high and it had the rattle. It was a Salt Water Series something or other. I'm guessing it wasn't the SDS. And I hunch that you are right - I now have the SDS. We'll see how it does this weekend. The beauty of the whole deal is - I put one small ding in my old stainless prop. But the dealer stood tall and took it in exchange anyway. Love my dealer.
