Hello All,

I had a Bennington 8 years ago and sold it. Looking to get back into boating, and am deciding between then QX or a Cobalt R6. I just looked at a review on the I/O version for Bennington and it looked pretty cool. Anyone have any insight?

I have have I/O Bennington and love it but I would never buy another one. We have to winterize it which is not a real problem since the docks get pulled and boating is over for the year. It is hard to find a mechanic that works on I/O pontoons and there are lots of engine repairs as the boat ages. The outdrives have much more repairs than a O/B lower unit. An outboard is designed to run at 6000 rpm all day long. You are asking a automotive engine to run at 5000 rpm in a boat when it runs at 2500 rpm in a vehicle. Now the I/O are running catalytic convertors which increases cost and complexity of the engine system.
