Hey all
So I know this has topic is everywhere but seeing if it’s just me or am I missing something.

I have a 2004 Bennington 2575 RFS. That’s a 25 foot Tritoon with the performance package. 25 inch three tubes all with lifting strakes. And underbelly shield. Powered by Yamaha four stroke 150.

Just recently bought a stainless steel Yamaha reliance 14.5 x 15 prop.
Increased speed to 32mph with two people @ 5500 rpm
With the original aluminum prop we were going top speed of 26.l when I bought it.

Had 6 people in it today max Speed 22 mph at 5000 rpm’s. Couldn’t get any higher speed or rpm trimming. With three people in L couch in back.
I don’t need a speed boat but shouldn’t I be able to go 35mph?? Performance package and all with a 150?

Just cleaned the toons as well

Any other thoughts what I can try?
I normally can get RPMs between 5000-5500 with correct trimming at full throttle.

Too much pitch. On a light load of 1-2 people. 1/2 tank or less on clean water, you should be trying to be near that 6000rpm limit at WOT for your motor. I think you need to drop down 1 or 2p. Also, that prop is okay, but there are a couple other SS props that would be better if you are looking to maximize mph at WOT. But again, even with the Reliance, I think you probably want to be at 13p…14p max. Not 15p with that motor and boat.

With you leaving about 500rpm at WOT on the table currently, it’s tough to guess what that will lead to in a MPH increase if dial in that gap. Maybe 2-4 mph more is my guess. May not be worth the expense of yet another prop replacement unless you can exchange the new Reliance for another prop.

Ken with PropGods knows his stuff big time. He can probably give you super specific advice.

That's a lot of boat for a 150hp especially when you weigh it down with 6 people. My thought is you need a bigger diameter prop to push all that weight around and less pitch as vikingstaff said to get the RPM back up to top of the spectrum when lightly loaded

I believe you have the right prop, but your boat is underpowered. Didn’t that pontoon take up to 200? It’s a heavy boat and solidly built. What it’s doing at present is right on the money. To get more…repower to more hp or high output. Just my 2 cents worth. Best of luck⚓

There's a dynamic between weight, engine HP, prop dimensions and a whole host of other things. Bottom line as others have noted there is going to be a wall where your prop and engine hit given the size of your sled. You're not likely to find a prop that can given great results at both light load AND heavy. The reliance is the right prop for a mid-size outboard to give you a balance of speed and hole shot, but once weighted down it'll start slipping badly. You can pitch down to get more diameter and less slip - but then you'll lose some top end when lightly loaded. Tradeoffs. Test a fee different props to see how the boat responds.

I have a 22SX tritoon F150 with a 14.5X14 and I hit about 6K wide open with a few people. I think that would be a lot better on yours too.
