Hoping  someone can help…….I am looking for short length (5ft - 8ft) black double braided dock lines.   I have  the 15ft  ones but there is way too much line left and I am afraid if I try to shorten them I will have a mess.  I have looking in the usual places but no luck.  Any one know where to find them ?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Just make them the right length. Do a Google search for marlinespike whip dock line. It will probably bring up some YouTube videos on how to whip and then cut dock lines to the proper length. Its easy to do but hard to explain in writing. A video will do you right.

Here is what I do. Not a good video but it is super simple. Keeps it clean in the boat or at the dock.

I have nice Top Knot lines that I keep on the boat, but for dock lines that stay on the dock cleats I just use regular West Marine brand. Once you get the lines the correct length, just cut the excess and melt the end with a flame. A BBQ lighter works well for this.

I've cut double braid and melted the ends with a lighter. Works just fine.

I like that video. I'm thinking that last knot could go around the rail, and the whole braid hangs off the fence. A hard pull may even undo the knot, and then you unravel it. Thanks for posting Jared.

I bought 4 15' lengths and once I had my boat where I wanted it I cut the excess with a very hot knife, it's the way the factory cuts them. I'm just not going to try that brading stuff, rope isn't that expensive. I'd like to know how and I watched a few videos but I'm not attempting it myself.

If you still want to buy shorter lines, do a search on Fender Line. You will find 5 footers.
