Area behind captains chair?

I'm not saying it's "wasted" space, but it seems to me, there may be potentially better use for this unused area directly behind the helm seat. Maybe a folding table attached to the rails? Some sort of storage compartment?

Thoughts? Anyone done anything there?

I walk behind there.

Same here. On my 24sslx I need the space to walk to the back. Plus it makes a good storage place for my tackle box. (didn't opt for the center storage and should have)

Do you have to move the tackle box to walk through?

No. Just have it setting there.

This is kind of what I was trying to describe. There isn't a ton of room back there I know, but there is some usable space while still allowing passage through.  I currently hang my three fenders there while under way. Just curious what other folks use the space for.

Just an idea... always on the look out for ideas. (I guess I like to tinker too much)

Something like this perhaps?

My Bennington ottoman fits perfectly back there.

Also... How would you recline the helm chair without a little space in back of it?

Our coolers and all the other stuff the girls bring on board go back there. Also too much back there blocks the rear door, at least on our 21slx.

We like the space for walking, coolers, dog water dish, and noodles when we're swimming. It was one of  the things my wife was thrilled with when she saw the boat. We do a lot of swimming off the boat so the space is great

No such thing as wasted space on the boat......

In the area between the Captains chair and the railing we keep the skis, (wakeboard when my daughters onboard) 2 throw pillows and the telescoping boat hook. The area behind our chair is the walkway to the ladder access.........

Ditto.  We keep one of our two ice chests there. Still plenty of room to walk past without any problems.  I prefer the open space design that it has over something factory installed.  More versatile.

I have the Bennington Ottoman, which fits perfectly in that space.  We do a lot of waterskiing and use the ottoman as a place for the spotter to sit.  We also use the ottoman to stow several throw lines for docking in windy conditions.

+1 on our 21SLX. In our case that makes a nice roomy area to enter into the changing area/head under the sun pad. With the extended aft deck on the other side of the fence it's quite roomy there. Great place for bait and tackle when fishing off the stern.
