My used boat came with a broken bimini light bracket. I have the replacement part but the wire connector doesn't fit through the bracket base. Do they have have to be cut and spliced or is there some trick to getting the top of the light off? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

When mine broke I replaced the entire light

Stick it in a vise and crank it down (careful with wires). Looks like pot metal so should fracture and break apart. You could also try a good hammer blow. Might fracture it too.

Bennington needs to rethink their Bimini light. It is designed to break. I put a $29 new one on and had to cut & splice the wires. Also, I bought one with a shorter pole. Then, if it is hanging down when we lower the top, it won't beak.

Thanks to all who replied. Posting here for the next person who searches. I just ended up cutting and splicing the wires (with heat shrink connectors). The part that is designed to break and prevent damage to the bimini is under 20 bucks (perko). Off to the sandbar for sunday funday and one box checked on the list :)

Possible you guys could link which light you went with? Our used boat also was purchased with a broken light need to replace. 2022 168SV
