Docking buddy lines

Just got a xmas gift of some docking buddy lines like bungee cords. Does anyone use them. Seems pretty easy to just throw over cleat. My question are they secure

I wouldn't use them unless it's for a very short time and you plan to stay nearby and keep an eye on the boat. If a rouge wave or strong wind came up, your boat could pivot into the dock and put some dents in your toons or fence.

Tying a regular line is no big deal, so can't imagine they would even save any appreciable time. I like knowing my lines are secure.

I use mine all the times for tying up, but only when I am on board. ...never over night.

I use them as my safety line when on my lift.
