2016 Bennington Pontoon fuel gauge always reading full. Was serviced a Bennington service shop and at a local marine mechanic shop. Neither can find anything wrong with it. checked all electrical connections and still no help. Looking for answers to fix this problem.

Hi Coach! Probably a good place to start would be the search at the top. I know this is a somewhat frequent occurrence so you might find some good information.

First, Michiman's advice is spot on, topic has been covered more than a few times here so there are some good reads in your future.

Second, this is a common boating issue in general so try some other boating forums if you can't find the answers here.

Third, get a new mechanic! If they can't diagnose a simple fuel gauge problem (there are only four components - a fuel sender, wires, the battery and the gauge) then you don't want them touching other potential work as well.

Keep us posted!

Your fuel gage is basically a ohm meter measuring electrical resistance and your sender is a variable resister. The sender will have the highest resistance when the gage reads full or if the two wires that go to the sender are cut or disconnected. Failure of those two wires is most probable when the gage reeds full. The black wire is ground. Running temporary wires across the floor can be used for troubleshooting. Simple troubleshooting can get you closer to the problem. It’s not rocket science. Hope this helps.
