Fuel slick in water when engine is running

We have recently noticed a fuel slick at the rear of the boat once the Yamaha 150 is running at an idle. No fuel is seen in the water until it is started. A few weeks ago it seemed to be a smaller slick, but now looks larger. The engine is clean inside and out, no leaks are seen or detected, the peep hole is running clean water through it, no fuel. The fuel/water separating unit under the rear platform is in good condition. Any idea where the fuel could be leaking from? 2020 Bennington 22 SCCTX Center Console Tri-toon Yamaha 150.

You didnt mention the year of your boat/motor . If it is an older boat how are the fuel lines ? Check those especially if you use fuel with ethanol .
If you are not the original owner , you most likely dont know what fuel the previous owner used .
Other members will respond with some ideas as well .

How did you determine the slick is coming from fuel and not oil?
The inside of the engine is clean, no leaks, the water coming out of the pee hole was clear, no fuel or oil taste. Looks like the leak may be coming from before the engine.

Have you checked your fuel lines?

That's how real men find out what the leak is, dip your finger in it and taste it! We had a maintenance guy at work that would do that! Good genes, he's still kicken at 75! Oil leaks can manifest from crankshaft seal leaks and wind up in the water. Check your dipstick level, visual is fine...

If you remain unable to easily track it down, the boat itself is still under warranty. Do you know if you had an extended warranty on the motor, perhaps a 5 year one that might still be active just in case the leak is there vs from a line external to the motor?
