Well Gang,
Been a bit since I've been here. We've been traveling and finally got back and spent some time at home. And that means, time to take the BOAT OUT! Yahoooooo! Well, it wasn't too long after we'd launched the boat and we were just cruising around when I noticed the little *Engine* icon on the tach dash. I'd not seen that before so, I broke out my quick reference plasticized sheet and found it. It's an icon that appears when there's apparently some sort of maintenance or service to attend to. Well, I just did about 99.9999% of that maintenance including engine oil and filter change, fuel filter change, spark plug change and outdrive oil change. Heck, due to a damaged fitting, I even changed out all my power steering oil too! Oh, I also changed out the water pump impeller. So, at present, I can't think of any regular maintenance that I haven't done, that needs to be done. But, I'm just a user, not a Benny tech.
I tried just shutting down the engine a time or two and then a re-start to see if that had any effect on that little icon and nope, not happening. Sooo, just wondering, any of you boys got any ideas on how to loose that icon other than take the big girl into the dealer and get charged a bunch for them to put a computer on it for 5 minutes? Now, one important point here. Since we happen to have that infamous F-350XCB 350HP 5.3L V-8, and it has that senario where the flywheel has to be replaced after a given amount of hours of running between 3,800 and 4,200 rpms, I don't think I'm anywhere near that limit yet. I forgot just how many hours it needs to operate at that rpm range before the ECM will post a notice on the dash it's reached the limit and time for a flywheel change and ECM re-program, FOR FREE, for the rest of the owners (and boats) life.
Anyone got any ideas, I'd surely appreciate it.
Scott
