So this weekend I saw a pontoon zipping around our lake while we were out and realized it was a Benny I saw once last year. Well this time I was able to run up next to him and we were able to do a full throttle test while in close proximity. :D  Our boats were essentially the same 2014 S24 SSLX vs 2015 S24 SSRX both with the SPS package but I have a 200 horse Yamaha and he has a 200 Merc. He had 4 adults and I had 2 adults, a 10 month old and a yellow lab (so lets say three adults) both boats had gear and I was slowly pulling on him. It felt good! I think this was probably the closest test I could have come across when comparing the merc to the Yamaha. Glad I made the right choice!

Any other racing stories out there? Maybe we should have a thread for sharing stories of the big Benny's kicking butt out on the water!

I saw the whole thing. What lakeliving forgot to mention is that the Benny with the Merc was anchored and they had an SUV across the bow. :)

Well I was dragging three large slide box anchors and hauling two SUV's that were both full of people, fuel and gear.

Next up, you should come over to my lake and go against the blacked-out Q with the 250 Evinrude on the back!

I'll race that chump :p  It would probably be close.

Come to Arizona... I'm your Huckleberry!

Say when! Just kidding. I'm no fool! This wasn't intended to be I'm the fastest as I am not. Just wanted to share an experience!

I was just kidding. I am definitely not the fastest either. But when it gets too cold there bring that Benny here for some of our    beautiful warm weather.

Is there enough water in AZ for the both of us? My wife loves the heat so if there was a body of water we could live on she would be all over it!

Unfortunately all of our boating lakes do not offer lake living. The only one are small community lakes with houses that only allow electric motors. There are a few private man made waterski lakes with houses. Very small lakes really only used for skiing. They were actually built as water ski parks with cable tow systems. When they failed  a developer purchased and made it a private residential ski lake. I am just 30 min to an hour from many lakes and 5 hours from Lake Powell or Havasu.

We were out today and we were coming out of a No wake cove and there was this blacked out boat in front of us that already passed the buoy and he was still chugging along........Well I waved as we passed him going about 35/36 mph.  It was a Premier with a 350 Yamaha on the back! It's a good thing he decided not to come after me. I still had another 5 or 6 mph left but with a full tank and the Bimini top up he would blown past me! It would have been fun to see!

The best is not necessarily another pontoon boat but the guys with the runabouts and small fishing boats! We came up along side a 21' or so boat and just trudged on by him, I think he got whip lash spinning his head around when he got passed by a pontoon boat!! He caught us at the dock and couldn't stop talking about the boat..... Always make you feel good when someone is drooling over your boat, they just never saw a G, R or a Q yet!! :D

I had a jet ski circle around me, so I told the wife to hang on and I firewalled the throttle.  His eyes got real big and he eventually caught up to me, but he gave me a big smile and a thumbs up.  He certainly didn't expect to see a pontoon going 40+.   Ah, the little pleasures in life.
