Minnesota but boat in NW Wisc.
My last boat was a deck boat and I was interested in a motor cover. There was a canvas shop right next door to the boat dealer. They made one to exactly match the mooring cover. It was even padded so as not to scratch the motor finish. Anyway, my point is, I just ordered another one for my new Bennington. Not knowing if they'd have a close match to my Matador Red mooring cover, I walked in and asked how close they could come to the sample I had. He said that's a Bennington fabric. I have rolls of it. So, I'm getting an exact match for my boat, it will be padded, have a drawstring and it was only $90. My first one lasted 17 years and it could easily go another 17 years. The place is called Wyoming Canvas in Wyoming, MN. Phone number is 651-462-5420. Call and ask for Ben Lange, he's a pleasant guy.

I was going to do this for mine...still on the fence though.

There is also one for the F115

Why didn't you go this route?  Did you just want a matching cover?  Your solution seems like a good one for those looking for covers that match the mooring fabric.  Did you look into the Yamaha covers?

Is the Yamaha padded inside?

Yes it is and it has a soft fabric inside so it wont scratch. It fit better that I expected, I was very pleased with it.

I wanted the color to match the mooring cover. It's a little more generous fit and goes down a bit further too. I didn't care for the lettering, etc all over the Yamaha version. Just a personal choice. I think the important thing is to cover your motor.

In Mexico, everybody just puts tee shirts over the cover.

I have the "Yamaha" cover that I use in the summer and a heavier cover that is made from the same material as my winter mooring cover (this is a heavier more weather resistant cover that covers the boat to just below the rub rail to give more protection over the winter since my boat stays on a lift on the lake) and both have non-scratch material on the inside.

Here is my Verado cover. At the dock, a little loose is much easier to handle. The skin tight factory covers are a challenge to get on and off, though for trailering they are very nice.

I wonder if i could make one. The sewing machine has been collecting dust.

I have never used a cover but then again I never owned a boat until recently so I ask - Just how important is using a cover?  Are covers for anything other than keeping the cowl looking nice?

Mainly UV protection. While towing it keeps rocks and crud from hitting the finish, so yes, it's all cosmetic.

There must be some large Mexicans somewhere then.  I've only ever seen small ones.

Maybe they are covering their 20 hp motors? Then they could just use a sock.

We have the same yamaha one posted off ebay and we like it alot.  Nicely padded on the inside and secure wrap around strap to hold the cover on.....fits snug on a F150 like it should.  Pulled the cover off it this spring and the motor cowl looks brand new.....now the mid and lower section could use a little attention as they are all water spotted from the winter storage on the lift.
