Hello everyone,
I am new here and new to pontoon/tri toon. Last boat was a Baja 30'SST. Getting older and it's hard for some of the family now to get in and out of the Baja. I just put a deposit on a new left over 2023 R27 RSB with twin yamaha 300's. Those of you with twin Bennington's, and have had speed boats in the past, do you feel like you lost a lot of the need for speed and comfort over rough water?

We have a 2024 30 QSBWA with twin 300's. While we aren't the fastest boat on the water, we aren't the slowest. We very much enjoy riding on top and above the water. The boat is fast enough that we can enjoy all of the water sports that we are interested in when we want to do the water sports. We have the room and comfort when we are just anchored out relaxing and enjoying the lake. They sure aren't grandpa's pontoon boats anymore.

The design of any product that moves thru a fluid involves many compromises. That’s what makes boats and airplanes interesting. Pontoon boats are more comfortable at all speeds. Most inland boats spend most of their time at displacement speeds. Planning hulls have a limited speed range at displacement speeds do nose high attitude and offensive wake. Within that speed range pontoon boats will cruise faster than a speed boat. In addition you can still have a big number on the back of your boat if that’s your thing.
