I called Tumac about a new mooring cover for my 2015 22SXL. They sent me Eco Elite and Sunbrella fabric samples and I'm having a hard time deciding. Can anyone that has bought either of these cover materials give me some of the pros and cons?? I was also told that the new Benningtons come with the Eco Elite...

I'm also debating going to the "J" clips for the sides instead of the snaps.

Im leaning towards the Sunbrella, but with spending this money, i want make sure i am spending the money right the first time.

Out of curiosity, what are they asking for them?

You can't go wrong with Sunbrella. It's a little more bulky but will likely last longer.

Plus 1 for Sunbrella !

its going to be around $3K for the cover and the Bimini Boot as well.
Yep...not inexpensive. I have actually made a few covers for my boats before. Not sure I will ever do that again though. My boat cover making days are over.

We got an Eco-Lite replacement mooring cover this past year under warranty. I do like how light weight and easy to handle this cover is compared even to our original 2017 OEM Surlast(?) cover. Since my wife has had to take up covering the boat due to my back condition, she especially likes it. One year in it protects as well as our previous OEM cover. We have used 303 protectant on both. So that helps greatly with waterproofing.

However, Eco Lite is a newer product, so I don’t believe there is good long term data as to its durability. I think it’s a “time will tell” fabric. Given how light weight it is, there’s no way I think it will stand up over time compared to something as robust as Sunbrella. If the priority is light weight due to physical ability, Eco Lite may be the route to go. Otherwise…

I don’t think anything is going to beat the protection and durability of Sunbrella! If I were paying out of pocket, Sunbrella is what we would go with - hands down. Down the road when we are out of warranty and our Eco Lite eventually needs replacement, I presume we will end up going Sunbrella with a local canvas shop. So if durability and long term protection is your priority, and you don’t have to worry about something extra light weight, I would say Sunbrella like others have mentioned.

All of that is assuming that either can fit in your budget. Good luck!

+2 on the Sunbrella fabric!!! It's a premium fabric that lasted longer than the original Surlast cover!
