Really hard not to fall in love with the rear lounger seats. I am seriously considering a 2575 RCWC but am looking for some clarification.

Are the rear facing lounge seats considered a safe seating location while the boat is underway? I know many states have laws about seating and the height of railings, etc. I just wasn't sure if the stainless steel railings and chain allowed for this to be a "legal" seating spot. Would the answer be any different with the RCWC Limited which has the paneling instead of ss rails?

The seats are great, but I couldn't imagine taking up all that deck surface for seats that can only be used with the engine off.

Thanks in advance!

Based on height requirements, the stainless rails and chain are legal! We also offer a new stainless stern gate as an option to the chain (sorry, it's not retrofitable) The LTD version with tall fencing in the stern is also legal. Your choice should be made based on styling and what you like. Good luck :) TB

It wasn't very long ago that I was just like you doing all of my research but I finally pulled the trigger. After looking at nearly every manufacturer out there I decided, in my opinion, I couldn't beat the Bennington RCW. I just received my 2011 2275 RCW LTD and I absolutely love it. what a beautiful boat. Good luck with your research and if you ever want an opinion drop me a line, my new favorite thing is talking about this boat; friends and family are tire of hearing about it :D

I have the 2011 2574 GCW with the rear loungers, and they are legal. No issues with the local water patrol (2 different county police, Coast Guard Auxillary, and DNR).

Hi BobCajun,

Recently took delivery of our 2275 RCW and have been stopped twice already for safety equipment checks. (everyone on our lake is being stopped since we are close to July 4th) Both times I had passengers in the super loungers and it was no problem with our marine patrol. The only problem we have with our new Bennington are the "discussions" on who gets to sit in the stern loungers. Everyone absolutely loves them!! Another nice features is if you beach your toon or in our case pull up to the dock, you can relax back there and look out toward the water. It also draws a lot of attention from other tooners who haven't seen anything like this before. I think you will love it too!

I purchased a new-left over 2010 2250. In 2010 the side enclosure is full height and goes completely around the loungers. The 2011s are very sharp, but with kids I had a concern with the open back design.

For 2011 they still make the enclosed stern, called the LTD. We were a little divided household on this subject, which to choose.....wife won this one.....we got the LTD.

We have a 2009 2250 RCW, and have been stopped by mutiple law enforcement agencies for safety checks, never a problem!

I just took delivery of my 2011 2275 RCW LTD. I do have to say, the rear loungers are one of the main reasons I picked this pontoon. I thought it would be great for the kids or wife sitting back there reading the kindle or taking pictures of the kids in the tube/skis or what every else is out back. I absolutely love these! It's too bad I'm the only one that will be driving it because I would love to be out back!
