We are planning on bringing our SFX 22 to Florida next winter. I plan on installing the salt water anodes. Is there anything else I should do? The boat has the 32" oval toons with freshwater strake package with a 150 etec. Should I change the strakes, or would rinsing them out be enough?

buy salt-away or similar brand and spray boat down after use.

Are you leaving the boat in the water for extended periods or pulling it out after each use? Generally where in Florida are you going to use it?

Mainly on the Gulf side and the intercoastal. It would probably be in the water no longer than a week at a time . May have to pull it every time ( depending if I get a dock space)

Thanks for the replies

Changing anodes out is smart. If you stay in the water more than a day or two, bottom ablative paint will be needed. Also rinse the vessel with lots of fresh water after each day of use. Flush the engine religiously and tilt it up at end of day. What all this does is fight the barnacles from attacking the boat and engine. Plus, salt water is corrosive, especially when you have aluminum and steel together. Before walking away each day, turn off batteries if you have a switch. Above all else, enjoy yourselves. I’ve been boating in salt water for more than 30 years and my latest 2012 Bennington still looks great after 12 years.

Excellent advice,I'm 50 year Florida, saltwater boater, northeast Florida. I think you'll be good for at least 10 days in the winter for the barnacles to start the attachment process, but I would be loosing sleep at night by day 5. LOL

Awesome advice. Thank you. I will take it out often to clean it / and the motor. Just to be safe
