Stereo Replacement

We need a lot more info. Boat model? Existing stereo model? Is it stock? Location in helm? Desired new stereo? Any amps? Got specs?

Probably someone here can help if you post up a lot more info.

If swapping same unit for same unit, it should be easy peasy!

Is it a slide out stereo? If so, the wiring should be intact inside the helm and all you'll need to do is slide in the new unit.

If not, like maybe the wires of the harness were cut, just match color for color, use connectors, tape them well and you should be good to go.

I'm getting the Bennington wire harness that hooks up to the stereo from dealer, so it should plug into the back of the stereo and to the harness on the boat. I guess my question is about mounting in the helm?

I'm confused. If you are swapping same for same, it should drop or slide right in. Was the mount somehow damaged when the previous unit was removed?

The original unit was stolen. No damage just nothing there but the opening where the stereo goes and the wiring  harness that would contain power to stereo and to the speakers. The thieves unplug and took the Bennington harness that plugs into the back of the stereo it self and the mounting bracket. Kinda hard to explain.

I have figured it out. Talked to my neighbor we can handle replacement of the stereo.

Thanks for all of your help.

It's pretty easy to do.  Slide the mounting bracket into the cutout for the radio, bend the tabs to keep it in place.  Slide the radio into the bracket and plug it in.

I have the same problem.  I have a 2015 2275 GFS.  Someone stole the radio last Fall and left me with a big hole in the console.  I bought a Sony DSX-M50BT radio, same model that was in the boat, from West Marine but the hole in the console is much larger.  Radio is 7 1/4 x 2.  Hole is about 9 X 3 (roughly),

What am I missing that needs to go in that hole besides the radio?

There could have been a radio rain cover (sleeve besides the radio case).  Maybe that's why it was larger in size since it wraps around the actual radio that plugs into the helm.

Radio Rain Cover  <--- at overtons and looks like the unit below
