New boat and love it! Only issue I am having is the depth finder stops working (flashes the last reading) when I am underway. It only works up to about 8mph, then I lose it. Anybody experience this and have suggestions?

Tilt the transducer down just a tad.

Yeah, the transducer probably isn't lined up. I keep mine loose so if I hit something, it just tilts back instead of breaking. I've gotten to the point where I can reach down with my foot while squatting on the rear deck and put it back into alignment.

Or it's not in clean water. You may have to lower it a touch if air is getting to it while at speed.

If it's parallel to the planet (aligned) try lowering it.

If you can do that with one foot while out on the lake, post a video. The rest of us need a screwdriver.

Post a pic of its location. Most likely it was mounted too high. With any speed, it will stop functioning. The top of the transducer needs to be level with the bottom of the toon. You won’t have trouble after that.

Now, you may say that putting it there will leave it vulnerable to damage if you strike something, to which I respond with 1) if it's not working correctly then the bottom of your boat is going to be vulnerable to getting struck by something, and 2), If it's not working properly because you hate to mount it lower, then you may as well remove it altogether.

Mine does the same thing. Will attempt to reposition it before splashing the boat this weekend for the season.

My opinion is you want it just a tad lower than the tube. We're only talking a 1/2" or so. Don't worry about hitting anything with it being a 1/2" lower...if that happens you probably have bigger problems than a damaged transducer. A bit lower to get it farther away from the turbulence and level when the boat is sitting in the water , not level when it's on the trailer in the driveway....

Thanks for input, it will be Saturday before I can getinto it but will let you know how it works out

Most of the information I have found suggest 1/8” below the bottom of the hull (toon). I just installed a Striker 4 on my boat. I used a level and set mine 1/4” to 3/8” below the toon. Tried it out yesterday and it worked at all speeds. I also didn’t secure the bolt tight so it can flip up if I hit something. Hope this helps.

There is no need to leave the bolt loose on a transducer. They are made to break away if you bump something and then it's a simple reset by snapping it back into place. Leaving it loose will eventually have you making a trip to the hardware store to buy a new bolt...

Thanks for everyone’s input. Made an adjustment and it’s working great. (Kaydano : While anchored in shallow water, and not with my foot)

How did you position it? I'd like to get mine reading better at speed as well.

I'll see if I can get an adequate picture. Might be hard as the boat stays in the water. With my bracket I was able to push it down one click. Still doesn't work at higher speed, but I won't be going those speeds anytime I'm concerned about depth. It works up to about 22 mph. Before it only worked up to about 8 mph

That's a much better way!
