Swingback and battery switch location

Hello,
I am new to the swingback model and just wondering if it is normal to have to pull up the small rear port side cushion every time you go out and every time you comeback just to turn off the battery.

I have always turned the main red power switch off after each ride, but that cushion seems tough to remove, like it isn’t intended to be opened often. Is this normal?

Thanks.

I don't have a swing back , I have 2 rear lounges ( 3rd one ), they are the same way . Yes it's a PITA .

My neighbor has a Premier tritoon and I noticed his battery switch was installed outside a compartment, easy to access even with cover on. Seems like a good idea.

I think somewhere on the helm would work . I have no idea on the reason for placing it under a seat .

That’s how ours is as well. That said, our small cushion is easy to pull up, if not simply awkward to do in that rear corner. I agree, It would be nice to have the switch in a more convenient location for access. SMH. On the other hand, I kinda get that it’s where it is because it is easier to wire it all up back in the same area as the batteries.

Yes. Takes an extra second so not a big deal especially to keep the look of the deck clean.

But beware over time the compression ball and socket that keeps it in place could loosen up and the cushion fly out at top speed. Bennington came through on warranty but I rigged a bungee to keep it from happening again.

I have twin batteries on my 2024 L21swing back. I have a kill switch on the helm so it’s easy to turn on and off all the power. Suggest looking into it to make your life easier.

I have a kill switch ( master power ) on the helm as well , but it doesn't shut down all power .

Mine is located under a corner hinged seat! Just lift the seat shut it off and go home!!!Screenshot_20220601-154420.jpg

I have a 20225 LXSSB with same set up. I just turn the power off on the helm and don't worry about it. I did this on my last Bennington for 10 years and never a problem. Are you just assuming your batteries have a load on them and will discharge? No way am I going to pull that cushion every single time. Something will wear out.

I believe my Sea Legs (Ultra Legs) is wired directly and doesn’t turn off at the helm switch.

Correct, the Sea Legs (Ultra Legs) are wired directly and my understanding is they have a small draw (maybe related to Bluetooth).

Yup…the Sea Legs are direct wired. Even Perko switch does not shut off power to them. You have to flip the in line Sea Legs circuit breaker to shut off power draw to them.

Ditto Poto on this. Many boats have some accessories not wired through the helm master switch. That only impacts items wired at helm. So bilge pump, motor/trim, etc…. Would still have a parasitic draw. Let alone something like Sea Legs, or Ultra Legs, or depending on how someone DIY’s other items onto their craft.

Also as Poto mentioned, my pop up rear corner cushion comes up way to easily these days (8 years old now). It does loosen up over time.

I agree. The easier it is to see/access, the higher the likelihood of it being utilized.
