Talon installation

I installed my 12’ Talon using the MinnKota sandwich bracket between the motor and the transom. I wasn’t sure of the angles to use for the adjustable sections but basically I got it mounted squarely with the back of the deck.
obviously, I did something wrong because as soon as I get up to about 12 knots, water is hitting the bracket and splashing onto the back of the boat. Looking at it now, I don’t see how it wouldn’t do what it is.
Has anyone installed a Talon on the back of a 22 SFX? If so, could I see some pictures of how it was done?
I attached pictures of my ill-fated attempt.

No shallow anchor but will likely go PP. JL marine recommends a special bracket that mounts to the deck and places the PP directly aft of the tube. I hated the look so I asked the dealer if they would install using the motor bracket - they refused due to PP saying that it would cause splash back.

Where is the splash coming from, water hitting the arm or the Talon base? If the arm, then MK should offer a different mount similar to PP?
