VHF ???

I will do most of my boating in the Delaware river around nj , Philly and up to md... Is a handheld VHF radio just as good or good enough .. I did not really want to get involved with other antennas and big units to install,,, if so what kind do you recommend ??

On our lake we don't worry about VHF too much as we have cell phone coverage over the entire lake. When we go to the intracoastal waterways & coastal areas we always take a handheld VHF along with cell phones.

Sounds to me like a decent handheld would be all you need.
