Volvo Penta engines

Well my question is already in the topic above. You can see what my boat is at the bottom of what I write. My Dad insists Chevy (GM) makes the Volvo Penta engine. Is he right?

The engines actually come from GM Marine Powertrain with whatever unique features Volvo requires.

Yes, some Volvo and some Mercruisers are based on GM engines, as Tom said, built to their specs.
