Was it Sharkhided?

I have a new 21 SFX that's been in the water for 3 weeks now and the tubes are getting covered with patchy looking black gunk.  I've tried wiping it off while in the water but it comes off pretty hard.

This is strange looking, not just an even oxidation.

We paid to have Sharkhide applied at the factory and I don't understand why this is happening unless it didn't get applied.

Is there any way to tell if it has been applied?

Thanks...

Welcome to the forum G.....

Even though you have your tubes Sharkhided you are still going to get "gunk" on them. It doesn't prevent that. It just makes it easier to clean it off............you will be able to tell if Sharkhide wasn't applied........the whole entire tube would discolor!

welcome aboard ghutch!

Sharkhide keeps the aluminum from oxidizing, but it isn't like teflon, it won't keep stuff from growing or sticking to them.

I applied mine myself, and you can certainly tell where i missed some spots, they have turned a dark grey.
