Is anyone here an expert at using the Waypoint? I have it on my new Garmin, but not sure how to use it. I can't seem to find a good tutorial on YouTube. My model is the Striker 5DV.

The best thing to do is download "HomePort" from Garmin.  This software allows you to interface with your GPS, and it's free.  Runs on Mac and PC.  You can create your own Routes on this software, insert your Waypoints, then save it all and upload it to your GPS.  Don't even bother trying to do it from the GPS itself.  Way too much of a PITA.

With my Lowrance, I have always marked spots such as the final channel markers (#1) and saved trails to spots that I frequent.  The section of the Gulf that I frequent, I try to do the trails at low tide, as we have many shallow spots with oyster bars and such.

Marking the end channel marker allows me to find the correct channel back, in case of fog etc.

My device isn't compatible with Homeport. :(

Thanks, anyway.
