welding slag on toon?

Any ideas on removing welding slag on new toon?  My dealer tells me this is quite common on new toons during the building process.  They also tell me that removing it will just make it a more noticeable mark on the new toon with the sharkhide.  Has anyone dealt with this before?  Any thoughts or suggestions?  Thanks.
