that has the air cylinders in it you fill to lift after you get the boat on the plastic sled part? i just found out what sea legs are but see this one used alot in the dock i have my boat in. what is the name of that set up? may be an option for me in winter depending on price. thanks.

Never heard of this set up, but would love pictures or info just out of curiosity. Following.

I don't know the generic name of such a lift but what you are describing sounds like the lift I have and that is used almost exclusively on the lakes on middle Tennessee. Ours is a HydroHoist brand. I have posted a picture of one I pulled off the HydroHoist website below. My looks pretty similar. They work just as you described, you pump air into the plastic chambers and the boat is lifted up out of the water. For our boat it takes about 5 minutes. When you are ready to use the boat, you release a valve and the weight of the boat results in the air being released from the chambers and the lift and boat gently go into the water. This too takes about 5 minutes. We love our lift.HydroHoist Lift.JPG

I have one that fills the tank with air here in Missouri which is very common made by Mozark lifts. Takes maybe 5 minutes to raise it and it comes down in about 3 minutes. Works great.IMG_0659.JPG

. Thank you, great info: that is exactly the style with the only difference being the ones i have seen in my dock look portable, like you could load it up and even move it on the lift into the dock and tie it off if you had a way to tow or row it. i will check the vendors mentioned. Thanks again

Just curious as I don’t have a lift - if it lifts the boat with air tanks does it bob around with any wind/wave action? Or is it solid to the frame somehow to keep it still?

My lift is bolted to the dock. You will get some up and down movement of the boat if strong wave hit it but nothing I have ever been concerned about. Mine is used in a Marina which is a no wake zone so really don't get that much wave action but when you do it is minimal.

Mine is the same as Ray's, bolted to the frame of the dock, in a marina with a no wake zone. Very few waves. In six years we have never had an issue.
