What year did the "Q" have a bow gate like this?

Hey I was doing a little pre planning for our new Q. I want to make a cooler in the bow gate area. The Idea was to take the seat cushion off a bow gate seat and then make a custom cooler to fit in that area.

Now what I also wanted to do is make anchor storage in the space between the gate and where the curved panels begin. My project would require the gate from a Q

I need one off one of the Q's where the gate follows the curve of the front of the boat.

example the first pic is what the front of a current Q looks like

The Second pic is of a Q that has a curved bow gate

In my Bennington sales manual, print date of 2009, the 2575 QXI model is stated as containing this feature "custom compound gate with hydraulic hinges that follow the curves of the radius bow"

This is the sales brochure with red/tan 2550RCW on the cover. Other then the print date of 2009 on the back there is no model year on the actual pictures....but i would assume the print date = model year date..so 2009.

BTW, the detail picture in the sales brochure has a close up of the radius bow gate and hinges. the hinges are incorporated into the forward bow railing. Does not look to me like that would be an easy swap, the two gates attached and operate very differently.

any chance you can post a picture of the Gate and Hinges. I was thinking of swinging the gate UP not Out

I was able to find this pic.

It's recent, but they stopped doing that a couple of years ago.

It was a feature from, I think around 2006 to about the end of the decade.

As I recall, there was a whole mechanism hidden under the fence to work it. You'd need to buy the entire front fence section for both sides.

OR, I suppose you could buy just the door, hinge it at the top and use automotive lift cylinders that you would normally see on a hatchback or lift-up rear window. You'd need a latch at the bottom to hold it down. You'd also give up your front gate, although I guess that doesn't much matter to you. Most importantly, I question how you would get to it while on the open water.

But perhaps I don't have your thoughts visualized well.

The pic above looks pretty much like the pic in the brochure I have, I think I might have the one year model newer pic...pretty close, same concept. That BTW I think is a beautiful gate, good luck with the project.
