As an update, since I started this thread, I've had to install the cover two additional times. I spent 30-45 minutes carefully applying a dab of Chapstick to each snap. What an improvement. Everyone needs to know this. What a great tip. The other tip that worked is delaying the telescoping of...
Another 'newbie' type question. We have a 3 month old 2274GL w/ 3 tubes & SPS. Power is a 150 Yamaha. It's sits in a slip 100% of the time. After the first few hours we opened up for short periods per instructions and routinely achieved 39 mph. Never quite touched 40.
Due to weather we...
Thanks to all for good comments. As expected, I heard confirmation it's wise to cover it as much as possible. Not surprised. I was hoping someone would say "sure, buy one of those fake Owls to scare off birds and leave it alone for 2-3 weeks". I suspected better.
My wife and I do think...
Received my new 2274 GL in early November. We've only had it out 4 times but it's great so far. Everything works and the fit & finish is better than I expected. It has a 150 Yamaha and moves along well.
I find dealing with the playpen cover to be a very major hassle. Taking it off is OK...
I bought my new 2274 GL from South Austin Marine. Took delivery early November. They were great to deal with before, during and so far - after the sale. They have called me twice in the 3 months to check if all is working well.
One more question. Is there a concensus as to 3/8 of 1/2" line for this type mooring and for what I would call light anchoring. (not in high winds or severe conditions) Most of my anchoring would be 20' or less water. I bought a set of four 20' 1/2" mooring lines and also a spool of 150'...
All these are very helpful - and they are easy to understand. Especially about having dedicated ropes made and adjusted for each cleat. Great idea.
Now I need to be sure my wife and dog know what they need to do when we pull in the slip..... ;)
Bennington gave notice our boat was...
JeffS - this is what I was looking for. To clarify however, I am assuming your blue and yellow lines are totally separate, but they are sharing the same dock & boat cleat? In other words you are not using one long line on eash side and are simply using colors to note location. Thanks...
Thanks. Yes, the boat will have cleats front & rear on both sides. The dock has several cleat locations on each side plus two large ones in the rear of the slip. So yes, there are cleats on the dock near front & rear positoins. THis marina allows us to add more cleats if desired. I.e...
We will be taking delivery of our 2274GL w/ 150 Yamaha within the next week. Plans are to leave it in the water in what seems to
be a very well constructed boat slip complex in Canyon Lake Texas.
I've seen various diagrams about "cross tieing" the lines to allow for more flex etc. I.e...
Dealer I'm working with in Texas gave me short notice in late June that effective the next couple of days Bennington prices were increased 5%. I think it was June 28 or so. My plans were to order and not buy inventory and it caught me by surprise. Is this correct? Did Their prices go up 5%...
Big thanks. Looks like I've solved the tow frame ? and gathered good advice on crew management.
I agree the frame looks like it would have other value besides towing.
Unfortunately, can't make the dog captain. She has flunked the Texas boater certification test twice already.
DJ - thanks. Yes, I assume my tank will be in the privacy enclosure but want to be sure. As of now think I will pass on the added 5 gallons of storage. The base tank gives 24 usable gallons and I think that will be fine. By the way - your 2075 must scoot with that 150 on the rear. ...
Thanks to each for the comments. And yes, I do need to stay on the good side of my crew.
Am still waiting for the dealer to tell me exactly where the fuel tank is located. I had an excellent contact with Bennington but he has not replied to my last couple of ??'s. Not sure he's still around.
