The sps package says it can handle up to a 200 hp. I have a 21LL with the Sps toons but bennington will not let you build your boat with no greater than a 150. Has anyone put a 175 or 200 on their 21 foot with the Sps passage

Yes ,my 2020 had an SPS with a 200 . Currently I have a,2022 with the SPS Plus with a 250. This time of year Bennington is in the process of updating the build site ,sometimes it takes a bit for all the changes. Not sure if model now makes a difference. I have not been on the build site in a while.

Just to confirm you had an L series 21 foot with a 200. Did your dealer sell it that way or did you buy the boat then get the motor separate. My dealer say’s bennington won’t allow him to order with anything more than 150. Thanks

I did not have an L . I also checked the build site . If you move up to a 22ft a 200 is allowed .

Jack thanks for responding. That’s my issue per Bennington you need to have at least a 22 foot to have more than a150. I love my 21 LL so I’m not going to sell it. The 21ll is 21’11 3/4 inches so it’s 22 plus I have the SPS package. So why not a 175 or 200 ? My thought is it’s a marketing ploy to make you buy a bigger more expensive boat for bigger HP. So my question to the Bennington community is. Does anyone have a 21 foot S, L series with SPS package and running either a 175 or 200 on it.

I don't remember who on the forum was able to get their capacity tag changed. Higher HP less passengers . But as I found out with my 2014 R , the cost of going from a 150 to 200 was cost prohibitive, and that was when motors were readily available . Main reason for cost was due to changing the controls and the labor involved.
