Had the electric fuel pump replaced on my Mercruiser Stern Drive a couple weeks ago and our mechanic had to remove it and the outdrive to gain access because it's installed on the underside.................Anyway, my wife and I were on the lake today and first we noticed that the Trim gauge didn't show it's full range of motion and was off. (It moved sporadically throughout the day)............But the real kicker was the Tachometer. WOT RPMs for my engine is 4400 and 4800. We were getting readings between 5000 and 6000 today and we were nowhere near WOT. (We very rarely go WOT) The boat ran fine but the Tach readings were scaring me. Left a note for the marina service department to check it..................Can removal of the entire engine cause this? Something apparently got messed up.................
